Sunday we transferred the final mixes for the albu

Sunday we transferred the final mixes for the album ONLY LOVE to stereo tape. We started recording in early March and now the final product is on the way to Chicago for mastering. It’s a bit old school to mix to tape, but for music that is performed by live musicians I think its still the best way to go. Making this album has been incredibly fun. I feel so lucky to have gotten to work with some amazing people on this project. I’m truly grateful that studios like Tiny Telephone in Oakland still exist, which cater to musicians who write and record music as a labor of love. Special thanks to:

Sweet Sorrow - this is a live performance from my home of one of the songs on the upcoming album ONLY LOVE. The story behind this song is something I’ve found has had a profound effect on my life, which is learning to feel deeply into my own sorrow. It’s so easy to turn away from our wounds or just keep ourselves busy so we don’t have to feel the pain. So often, however, I find there is joy buried deep in our sense of loss. If we are able to open our hearts to the depths of our sorrow, our lost loves, lost youth, loss health, loss capacities, etc., we can learn to embrace our humanness. That is the path to connecting with a deeper love for life and our beautiful flawed selves.
